Dear Education Administrator;
The American Presidents Museum is pleased to announce a new Field Trip Scholarship Program that will allow area schools the opportunity to incorporate the museum into their field trip program at no cost.
Our scholarship program will not only cover museum admission costs, but also costs incurred for transportation. Through the commitment of our Betsy Ross Guild, area businesses and organizations will sponsor field trip expenses in an effort to encourage as many classrooms as possible to visit the museum each school year.
The first step in the process is to determine the cost of each field trip from your school district to the museum. If you would take a moment to fill out the enclosed brief questionnaire and return it before the end of this school year, we can be on board to welcome applications for the scholarship funds for the 2007 – 08 school year as soon as your teachers return from summer vacation.
With the aide of our Advisory Board of Directors, the museum has addressed the Show-Me Standards as developed by the Missouri Department of Elementary and Secondary Education, and incorporated those educational standards into the exhibits, displays and activities provided for student visits.
In addition, the museum offers several themes for the classroom visit, which include “Symbols of Freedom”, “Documents of Freedom”, and “Road to the White House” along with our standard museum tour. Field trip programs are grade appropriate and available for all grades. New in 2007, My First Field Trip, a museum visit program designed especially for K – 1 students.
It is our hope that you will find our program of interest, and more importantly that the museum is one of value for Southwest Missouri, and worthy of inclusion in your field trip program.
