Field Trip Planning
Many museum activities and programs meet the Show-Me Standards from the Missouri Dept. of Ed.

The American Presidents Museum is pleased to welcome dozens of field trips each school semester. We hope that our Field Trip Planning pages will help to make your museum experience educational, enjoyable and easy!
Schedule your trip as early as possible. We limit one field trip at a time in the museum due to space limitations and our desire is to give your group our undivided attention. Reservations for specific dates and times are on a first come basis. Reservations are taken for the entire school year all throughout the year. So plan early.
Rates: Student group rate is $3 per student. (If you have students that the $3 would be a hardship to the family and prevent the student from attending, please contact the museum regarding the availability of scholarship funds.) There is no charge for teachers and chaperones up to 1 per five students. Each additional adult is $3.
Reservations: Information needed when you call, fax or email your reservation request:
Complete contact information, including name of school.
Date and time of planned field trip visit.
Number of anticipated students, educators and parents/chaperones.
Grade level/age of students and number of classrooms involved.
Will you allow gift shop time?
Once we receive your reservation request, if there is no scheduling conflict, you will receive a confirmation and field trip contract for signature. If your school is to be billed with a purchase order, a copy of purchase order must accompany the returned signed contract. If there is a conflict we will contact you for an alternate date/time choice.
72 Hours Prior: Call or email the museum to confirm your anticipated arrival time, and the number of students that will be in the group. Email: amerpresidency@aol.com
The day(s) before the field trip: Discuss with your students the upcoming field trip and review field trip behavior. See our pre-field trip planning suggestions.
Field Trip Day: It is helpful to the museum staff if the students and chaperones are wearing nametags.
No back packs or other large packs or bags allowed in the museum.
No food or drink allowed in the museum, this includes chewing gum.
Upon arrival, drive to the front of the building and have the driver circle around to the Wildwood Drive side of the building where there is a level entry area to disembark. This is the West side of the building. Keep the students on the bus until you come up to the museum and check in. The museum is located on the third floor and there is an elevator to the right of the grand staircase.
After check-in, a museum staff member will accompany you back to the unloading area and give you directions for unloading and greeting the students.
Busses may then park anywhere along the side and rear of the building.
Gift shop
If you are going to allow gift shop time, please tell the staff upon arrival. We ask that only small groups go through the gift shop at a time, and each group must be accompanied by chaperones.
Restrooms
Restrooms are located in a public hallway, outside of the museum space. Young students should be accompanied by an adult.
