Below is just a small sampling of the exhibits in the museum.  In addition to the centuries of our leaders and important documents from the Mayflower Compact of 1620 through today, visitors will walk among Washington, Jefferson, Lincoln, Roosevelt, Kennedy, Reagan and more.

Lewis and Clark's Missouri - A Limited Engagement Exhibit

The Missouri State Historical Society was pleased to offer the Lewis and Clark's Missouril traveling exhibit to interested locations across the state.  Now at the end of it's travels, the exhibit will be housed at America's Presidency for two-year stay.  Included in the exhibit hall, visitors will view the complete time line of the two expidition, as well as examples of what they packed, traded and discovered along the way.  Special events and activities scheduled throughout the year.  Contact the museum for more information.  On display through Spring 2008.

C-SPAN American Presidents - nationally acclaimed traveling exhibit

C-SPAN Cable Television Network and the White House Historical Society collaberated to create this one-of-its-kind tribute the leaders of our nation.  Panel exhibits include orginal oil paintings of each President, combined with photographs, documents and biographical information to tell the story of our nation's leaders from George Washington to George W. Bush.  On display, March 4 - April 30, 2008.

Across the Prairie - Laura Ingalls Wilder

A panel exhibit from the Laura Ingalls Wilder exhibit will compliment Pioneer Days at the museum.  June 1 - July 30, 2008

The Story of Quilts

On loan from Michigan State University Museum, quilt panels and patterns will tell the history of quilting, and the stories within these unique works of art.  September 2008.

National Freedom Shrine

The National Freedom Shrine is an exceptional and elite display of 28 of the most powerful documents in America’s history. The new exhibit had a fitting debut with a dedication Presidents Day, Monday, Feb. 21, 2005. The display is a gift to the museum from the non-profit groups of National Exchange Club and American Kids Inc. and the museum is incredibly honored to chosen to house these remarkable pieces of American history. See Washington’s Inaugural address in his own hand, the Gettysburg Address just as Lincoln penned it, or the Instruments of Surrender from World War II, just a few among the 28 documents on display. Each piece is a photograph of the actual document. A rare glimpse of our history in the making. This is a permanent exhibit in the museum.

Hall of First Ladies

A tribute to our Commanders in Chief most trusted advisor - the First Lady.  On exhibit is a collection of First Lady campaign pieces, and a look at the Office of the First Lady - what is her role, and how it developed over the years.  This exhibit area includes Weddings at the White House, First Pets and First Kids!  This is a permanent exhibit in the museum.

Oval Office

Stand in the Oval Office and take the Oath of Office, as you are surrounded by the history behind this awe inspiring room.  Be sure to have your picture taken as you sit at the President's desk and issue that Executive Order!  This is a permanent exhibit in the museum.

A History of Political Americana

Step back in time as you remember the first time you voted, the first time you heard a President's speech, where you were during those times in history that are so firmly implanted in our memories.  View vintage campaign, convention and inaugural souvenirs from the mid 1800's to today.  A special expanded exhibition during 2008, as we follow our candidates on the Road to the White House.

Christmas at the White House

Come spend the Holidays with us!  An amazing collection of dozens of trees themed from the selections of past First Ladies, and past eras of families in the White House.  There is White House holiday trivia, and a very special exhibit of more than 40 years of White House Christmas cards and holiday tour books.  Don't miss this exceptional exhibit.  Annually November 1 - December 27.
