Laura Ingalls-Wilder Relative
To Visit in Branson
BRANSON, Missouri - It’s been many years since Laura Ingalls Wilder put pen to paper and wrote her now famous Little House series. Wilder’s contribution to the world of children’s literature is still commemorated today through a variety of pageants and plays; and the popular 1970’s show Little House on the Prairie, based upon Wilder’s books, can still be seen in reruns on a variety of cable networks.
The American Presidents Museum has seen first hand, the allure of the Wilder’s stories while displaying the exhibit, Laura Ingalls Wilder, Journey of a Pioneer Family, as the summer’s wildly popular visiting exhibit.
“It has been a wonderfully successful exhibit for our museum, bringing in young visitors from more than a dozen states that heard we had Ingalls-Wilder display,” stated museum executive director, Stormy Lynn Snow.
“I grew up reading her books, and had no idea the love of young readers that she still cultivates to this day,” said Snow.
As the visiting panel exhibit schedule comes to a close - ending July 31, the museum is in for a special treat – Beth Ingalls will stopping by for a visit and tour of the exhibition on Wednesday, July 23 in the afternoon.
Beth Ingalls-Leisses is the great granddaughter of Hiram Ingalls, who was Charles (Pa) Ingalls’ brother.
“We are so honored to have her visit, as she passes through the area on her way to the Laura Ingalls Wilder Home and Museum in Mansfield,” Snow continued. “That she even knew about our exhibit is exciting enough, but that she wants to see it, is an honor for us.”
The American Presidents Museum highlights displays and artifacts telling the stories of American History and the history of the American Presidency through dozens of exhibits and hundreds of artifacts.
The museum is located at 2849 Gretna Road, in the old Majestic Steakhouse building in Branson. Museum hours are 9AM – 5PM Tuesday through Saturday. For more information go to www.americaspresidency.org or call 417-334-8683.
